On this past Monday, February 3, our boys basketball team took on Sabis at Sabis International Charter School. The boys dominated almost the whole game until the fourth quarter. Dennis Popovichenko started the game off very strong with having the first 8 points and getting many steals while finishing the game with 11 points and 6 assists. Mason Carriveau came off the bench in the middle of the first quarter and buried his first two 3-pointers bringing the Comp team a boost of intensity. Carriveau hit four 3-pointers in the first half. Mason Carriveau and Nathaniel Lopez both racked up 12 points each. Daniel Rosa also pitched in with 10 points while Travis Kagan and Colin Scammon had 5 each. While talking with Mason Carriveau, he had some words about the game! Mason said “We started the game off strong on the offensive end, we hit a lot of three’s but our defense wasn’t the best in the first half, we let up 33 points. In the second half we started to play selfish on the offensive end and we only had 8 points in the third quarter while they had 16. We weren’t moving the ball or talking. While being down 6 or 7 with little time left on the clock we had to start fouling to get the ball back but they kept hitting their free throws.” As a result of the game, the Comp boys ended up losing 74-65 but after a hard working game.
